Naomi Pevsner is the 5th generation in her family in more than 150 years to serve the jewelry industry. Her ancestors were by appointment purveyors of diamonds and pearls to the Czars of Imperial Russia from 1850 to 1910.
"I grew up intrigued by the stories of how my 19th century ancestors covered the world, traveling to India, China, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa, Polynesia and so many other exotic places acquiring fine diamonds and pearls for the Romanov dynasty," Naomi explains.
"For me, designing jewelry is not just a career, it's my family's legacy," Naomi says.
Naomi's jewelry is all about the beauty of classic designs. She deftly synthesizes the majesty of Old World embellishment and attention to detail with the radiance of the New World's exquisitely cut diamonds and other fine gemstones. The artfully executed result is a wide variety of exceptional pieces in collections of commanding, dignified, truly regal-looking fine jewelry.
NAOMI was an early innovator of tiny micro-pave' diamond settings featuring all of the elegant, ornate, antique and deco looks of prior centuries. Her creations give the illusion of delicate lace through the use of open cutwork, filigree, millgraining and intricate tool-work. That look is now the hallmark of all of her Signature rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings and brooches.
And because so many of Naomi's pieces are interchangeable, all of her creations compliment each other, enabling her customers to build whole collections.
Naomi's Signature lines include her unique "Tiara Ring Collection" which features five different miniature diamond tiaras (one with tiny seed pearls) fashioned in 18-karat gold as open-backed rings. One such ring is patterned after a tiara worn by the late Diana, Princes of Wales.
Naomi also created the enormously popular "Huggie Earring collection," miniature white gold and diamond hoop earrings with an entire "family" of interchangeable dangling diamond earring enhancers.
With her jewelry sought after by celebrities and other discerning women, Naomi is dedicated to "creating objects of lasting beauty." Each of her pieces is hand made and Naomi jealously retains complete quality control over each product.
Her creations have caught the fancy of major show business personalities including actresses Jane Seymour, Cher, Eartha Kitt, Alicia Silverstone, and Paris Hilton, as well as NBC-TV Today Show personality Jill Rappaport.
Naomi's romance with gemstones began at the age of 12, when she weighed quantities of loose diamonds for her grandfather, a nationally known diamond importer of his time. A fine arts major from the University of Texas, Naomi later studied at the prestigious Gemological Institute of America, where she mastered jewelry sketching and wax carving, the essential first steps to hand-crafting of all fine jewelry.
She started her company 20 years ago on a tiny desk in a windowless, closet-sized reception room of a friend's office. Her present design and manufacturing operation was recently recognized by Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business as one of the 100 fastest-growing, privately own businesses in Dallas.
In 2006, the enormous premier cable marketer QVC© asked Naomi to design a complete new collection to appear on TV screens in more than 80 million American homes. The result is her budget-priced, antique-styled Legacy Collection of rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets, created exclusively for QVC©'s millions of tele-shoppers. She describes these personally in periodic one-hour, prime time telecasts. Her creations, which usually sell out each show, and are then posted on QVC©'s website (www.qvc.com) for back-ordering.
Naomi thus joins the ranks of Judith Ripka, Ralph Lauren, Robert Lee Morris and other prominent designers who now feature their "more affordable" lines on the six-billion-dollar, mega-home-shopping QVC© network.
With the success of her high-end couture jewelry collections and her sell-out diamond, gold and silver designs on QVC©, Naomi parlayed her profits into her own ultra-glam 'Jewelry Lounge' in Dallas' Preston Center Plaza, the city's "Rodeo Drive" where top-notch retailers cater to the most discerning clients in North Texas.
Complete with smoked-glass 'Bauble Bar' and elegant plush seating, Naomi's Jewelry Lounge is meant to conjure up the essence of Hollywood Glamour. "Picture Jean Harlow sipping a martini at her dressing table pondering which jewels to wear, and you've got the ambience of my tony jewel boutique, designed to augment the whole experience of designing, discovering and ultimately owning the perfect piece of jewelry," Naomi says.
